The knowledge that Mark Robins had when Coventry fired him

Even after being fired in November, Mark Robins was certain that

Coventry will return to their play-off-chasing ways.

After losing seven of the season’s first 14 games, Robins was controversially fired.

He had been in charge for seven and a half years, and in three of the four years prior,

his team had gotten off to a poor start before performing well, including making it to the

FA Cup semi-final in 2024 and the play-off final in 2023. Although he acknowledges that the

outcomes were subpar up until November, he was certain that he had witnessed enough

performances and that the underlying data will reveal a difference.

“They’re on a really good run. They’ve had some brilliant results, they’ve done fantastically well,

and there is no taking away from what Frank Lampard has done there,

but the data suggested when I left that this was likely to happen; it’s there for everyone to see.

” “There were times in the first part of the season when things didn’t go quite right,

didn’t fall this side, and at the moment they’re playing in a slightly different way,

they’re getting some fortune but they’re also playing some good football with good players.

That’s them, and we need to try to capitalize on what we can do and build on a performance last week,” he said.
