‘This is a game changer’… Rangers takeover beginning to cause panic at Celtic as financial reality sets in
If it wasn’t for the Europa League, Rangers season would’ve one for the record books in terms of how bad it has been.
Arguments about where the current Rangers squad sits in the annuls of history might be exaggerated, in a bad way, but football is a sport of emotions and the Ibrox faithful are far from impressed with what they have been seeing.
The only aspect of life as a Rangers fan that is raising spirits is the proposed takeover by the San Francisco 49ers, with the noisy neighbours starting to get worried about what the future holds for them.
Celtic fans running scared over Rangers takeover talks
Speaking on The Celtic Exchange podcast, David Low, who was a key figure in Celtic’s infamous 1994 takeover that saw Fergus McCann sweep to power and change Scottish football forever, has given his insight as a finance expert and a dose of reality for his fellow fans:
“This is a game changer and indeed, if these San Francisco guys get in, this is their Fergus McCann moment because it means we have people capable of constructing a platform for moving forward like McCann and his team did.”
The current Rangers board were the right people 10 years ago on March the 6th 2015, but they have taken the club as far as they can and the time is right to move on and for them to sell up.
Why Celtic fans should be worried about Rangers
It’s easy for Rangers fans to get carried away, however, when a respected Celtic voice is showing signs of panic, maybe a new dawn is about to rise after all.
With no debts, no court cases hanging over the club, Ibrox looking back to her best, the Auchenhowie training ground a facility fit for Europe’s elite clubs and New Edmiston House a welcome venue for fans to congregate on match days, the 49ers Enterprises group intent on taking control of the club should be able to concentrate on what really matters – what happens on the pitch.
And this is what’s really worrying them. They have had it all their own way for too long.
It f there is stability and a plan to take Rangers ti the next level off the pitch; it can only benefit Rangers on the pitch too.
