Derby County’s January transfer window shortcomings were exposed; two lost chances could have serious consequences.

Despite the January transfer window being a chance to resolve the club’s problems,

Derby County and John Eustace are still in a very dangerous situation in the Championship.

The Pride Park supporters have had a challenging few months. As they sought to solidify

their return to the second division, it looked for the majority

of the season that they would finish in the middle of the Championship table.

There was a lot of work to be done under Warne to make sure they were in the

best possible position, and January was a complete failure on and off the field in that regard.

Despite offering Warne the entire winter transfer window, they decided to let him go

in February and were able to wrest Eustace from Blackburn Rovers.

After a miserable run of just three victories in 21 league games, Warne was being replaced

by the new manager. Eustace will have a lot of issues to deal with at Derby as a result,

but he will be hoping that Kemar Roofe’s signing will win over supporters before the season is out.
