Speaking up about Stoke City’s future as his contract draws to a close, Jordan Thompson
Jordan Thompson, a 28-year-old Northern Ireland international
who is back to full fitness following a hernia operation,
is hoping to earn a new contract at Stoke City in an attempt to
steer a team he has fallen in love with in the right direction.
He is one of eight players whose contracts expire in the summer,
and he is sure he wants to stay if he wants to let things work
themselves out by playing well for Robins.”My contract situation is what it is,
but I would like to stay at the club. I love being here, to be honest with you.
But that’s got nothing to do with the priority at the moment.
I just want to kick on with the football and those things then take care of themselves.
” When Michael O’Neill brought Thompson to Stoke from Blackpool in January 2020,
he was thrust into a battle to stay in this division. A couple of seasons hoping to
maintain a play-off push ran out of steam before they were sucked back into a
battle in the wrong half under Alex Neil and Steven Schumacher.
