Rangers’ claim of Derek McInnes’ appointment amid “interesting” developments
Rangers are still searching for a long-term replacement for Philippe Clement,
and Derek McInnes is the subject of a recent claim.
McInnes has consistently been predicted to lead Rangers,
and he has even turned down the opportunity to do so at Ibrox in the past.
Speaking last week, after the 53-year-old’s current team Kilmarnock
lost to the Gers in the Scottish Premiership, Kris Boyd suggested McInnes
is still under consideration for the Rangers post. Derek Ferguson responds to
Rangers rumors McInnes has also been mentioned by Ally McCoist as a
potential replacement for Clement after this season.
Although analyst Derek Ferguson, the brother of interim Gers manager Barry Ferguson,
thinks McInnes is a better choice than Clement, he does not anticipate that fans will
embrace him because”Domestically, he’d be a good appointment and would do better
than the previous manager. He’s been there and done it,”
Ferguson said in an exclusive interview with Ibrox News. “It was also interesting
to see Kilmarnock add to his contract last year. My opinion was he would be a
better option for Rangers than Clement, with more of a style of football,
and he’d get us closer to Celtic.” However, he previously refused the job,
and once you go through that, it’s difficult for supporters to move on.
