Tottenham injuries and return dates as 3 players set for return for AZ Alkmaar clash
A look at Tottenham’s injury situation as they enter a weekend off in preparation for a big Europa League date.
Tottenham now have a much-needed period of rest before next Thursday’s Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar, with their early FA Cup elimination providing a weekend off. Spurs will see the Europa League as vital at this point, given it is their only avenue to silverware and European qualification for next season.
The rest period will be important heading into that trip to the Netherlands, and it will provide Ange Postecoglou to get a few more key players back from injury. Here we round up the latest on the Tottenham injury front.
Radu Dragusin
Dragusin ruptured his ACL and he will be out for much of the calendar year as a result. He has already undergone surgery.
Possible return date: December 2025
Dominic Solanke
Solanke is nearing a return from a knee injury. Postecoglou said two weeks ago: “Dom, again, we’re looking at the next two or three weeks.” He should be back to take on former club AFC Bournemouth.
Possible return date: March 9
Richarlison
Richarlison has a calf issue, and it’s likely he will also be looking at that Bournemouth clash as his return game. Postecoglou said earlier this month: “Richy, similar to Madders and Brennan… depending on how he recovers. Madders bounced back really quickly; it’s only been two and a bit weeks. Brennan has been three weeks – we’re looking at the same time frame for Richy.”
Possible return date: March 9
Micky van de ven
Van de Ven could return a little sooner than the two above, with a possible return for the Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar. Postecoglou said: “We’ve got a week before the first Europa game. We’ve got the weekend off. And again, that’s about the time we’re hoping that guys like Romero and Micky, in particular. They should be in and around that sort of mark.”
Possible return date: March 6
Ben Davies
Davies should also return for the AZ game, with Postecoglou saying after the Manchester City clash: “We were hoping maybe Ben would be ready for this game, but he won’t make it. So, he’ll miss out.”
Possible return date: March 6
Cristian Romero
Romero could also return for the AZ game after a hamstring issue. Postecoglou said recently: “They are all similar times, hopefully in the next seven to 10 days. A couple of them are already training, but over that period, we’ll start incorporating them back into matchday squads.”
Possible return date: March 6
