Mark Hateley says candidly that Barry Ferguson’s appointment as the Rangers’ temporary manager was “difficult.”

According to Mark Hateley, Rangers’ temporary hiring of Barry Ferguson was exactly what the team needed during a “tough” time.

After Philippe Clement was fired, former captain Ferguson was given the Rangers manager’s job till the conclusion of the season.Ferguson acknowledged that he never thought Rangers would call him about taking over as their next manager.

Three years have passed since his last managerial position with Alloa Athletic, and he had no real interest in returning to the dugout.

However, he succeeded in doing so on Wednesday night against Kilmarnock, as his team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the Premiership 4-2.

Ferguson has little managing experience, and he has no desire to play again.
