West Brom vs. Leeds United team news as Daniel Farke decides on Joe Rothwell
Daniel Farke has chosen his Leeds United starting XI to take on West Brom this afternoon
In the lunchtime Championship match against West Bromwich Albion this afternoon, Daniel Farke made the decision to bring back Joe Rothwell into his Leeds United starting lineup.
Rothwell, who has been instrumental in three of United’s last five games, was benched for the four previous games but now starts in midfield alongside Ao Tanaka. Joe Rodon and Illan Meslier continue their run of starting every Championship game,
with Pascal Struijk pairing Rodon in the center of defense and Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo completing the same back five that started against Sheffield United.
The same front four have started the last 11 league games as a quad, with Manor Solomon and Daniel James,
who grabbed the assist for Firpo’s equalizer against Sheffield United, starting on the flanks.
For the next three games, Bogle and Firpo are walking a tightrope of suspension;
Bogle is on a yellow card away, and Firpo is on a two-day suspension after accruing ten bookings prior to matchday 37.
Brennen Aaronson has only scored once and provided no assists in his last ten games, but he starts as number 10 due to his work ethic and the lack of other options in the position.
Joel Piroe might finish the weekend as the Championship’s top scorer despite starting as the central striker. He tied Norwich City attacker Borja Sainz with a long-range pile-driver at Sheffield United on Monday, bringing his total to 15.
Starting lineup: James, Aaronson, Solomon; Piroe; Rothwell, Tanaka; Bogle, Struijk, Rodon, Firpo; Meslier.
Substitutes: Gruev, Guilavogui, Ramazani, Gnonto, Joseph, Byram, Schmidt, Debayo, and Darlow.
