Derby may complete an unexpected league double over playoff-chasing Boro, having previously
defeated them 1-0 this season.
Kayden Jackson’s goal secured all three points under previous head coach Paul Warne in a game in which Boro dominated possession but finished empty-handed.
With John Eustace in command, Derby fans will be hoping he can complete a hat-trick after guiding Blackburn to two wins over Boro this season.
Rovers defeated Boro 1-0 in the league and FA Cup this season, and Carrick expects Derby, who are
four points from safety at the bottom of the Championship, to be defensively solid again this weekend.
“We are definitely expecting a tough game,” the coach remarked.
“When we played them away from home, we struggled to break them down and couldn’t find a way through.
“They defended really well as a team and John builds his teams to be like that as well.”We have a tiny bounce and a slightly better feeling after a win, but this is unlikely to influence how we approach the game.
“We will strive to play to our strengths, and we are fully aware of the style of game and its challenges.
“We are not getting carried away with one victory and thinking everything is all rosy.”
