‘Heavy damage’ – McKenna on Omari injury and when Phillips might be back
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna said Omari Hutchinson had suffered ‘heavy damage’ on his shin in last night’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.
Patrick Dorgu clattered the young attacker shin-high late in the first half, and subsequently saw red after a VAR review.
Hutchinson managed to play on, but was subbed just after the hour mark.
“I’ve not heard from the medical team in terms of anything, but we’ll have to assess it,” McKenna said after the game.
“It’s obviously heavy damage on his shin, but he managed to play on for a bit, so you’d hope there’s nothing serious, serious, serious there, it’s just the heavy impact that he received.”
Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips missed the game with a calf injury, with the Blues boss admitting he may not be available for a couple of games.
He said: “Obviously his injury from the other day that meant he wasn’t available.
“Again, to be honest, we’re not sure on timescales. Not a very long injury, but we’re not sure over the next game or two whether he’ll be available.”
