Derek McInnes is reportedly “under consideration” for the position of Rangers’ future manager at Ibrox.

Rangers’ Wednesday night victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park marked the

start of a new era under Barry Ferguson.

In an attempt to reestablish a connection with their team, Rangers icon and former

captain Ferguson filled the manager’s position left empty by Philippe Clement

for the remainder of the season. Boyd suggests Rangers manager Ferguson’s

first match as Rangers’ manager was against a Kilmarnock team led by Derek McInnes,

whose name has been mentioned as a possible future Ibrox arrival.

McInnes, 53, played for the Gers before becoming captain of West Bromwich

Albion south of the border in the early 2000s when they were in the Premier League.

The former midfielder, who was born in Paisley, led his 150th Kilmarnock match

against Ferguson’s Light Blues at Rugby Park.

As a live commentator on Sky Sports during the match between his two former

teams on February 26, Kris Boyd supported McInnes to be considered by

Rangers in the summer as a long-term contender.

Boyd said, “Given his work at Aberdeen and now Kilmarnock, I think he will be [considered].”

Ferguson had a summer audition at Ibrox.
Given that Rangers will always place no higher or lower than second,

Ferguson practically has a free hit here, at least in terms of domestic accomplishments.

The Gers will aim to regain the good vibe in the upcoming

weeks and months since they still have a lot to gain in Europe.
