‘Burst into tears’: Ian Wright reacts to heartwarming Matheus Cunha’s video, even Roy Keane was moved

Wolves may not be having their best season, but one player is proving to be a shining light on and off the pitch.

The Old Gold are embroiled in a relegation battle, but currently five points clear, will still feel confident they can retain their top flight status.

And if they do, huge thanks will be owed to Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian has led the way this season and, at times, has won points by himself.

There is another side to Wolves’ number 10 though — a less ruthless one.

Ian Wright and the rest of The Overlap team react to Matheus Cunha visiting young Wolves fan

Earlier this week, Cunha personally visited a young Wolves fan.

The forward bought the youngster some personalised gifts and hand-delivered them to him in his home.

The video, which was posted by Wolves TV, is heartwarming, and the way Cunha was with the child showed he genuinely cared.

The pair’s interaction was not lost on Ian Wright who made the rest of The Overlap team, including Roy Keane, watch the clip.

“You know I can burst into tears sometimes?” Wright said. “I’ve watched this video [so many times]. It’s so beautiful.”

Keane added: “Don’t footballers do good stuff? — Everyone slags footballers off.”

Lovely touch

Although Cunha is unlikely to be a Wolves player next season following suggestions a top-six club will trigger his release clause, which is reportedly worth £62.5 million, fans won’t forget him easily.

Not only has the forward produced the goods on the pitch time after time, but his contributions to the wider community mean a lot.

The South American is fiercely competitive and often criticised for his will to win coming out as frustration, but with such a genuine attitude, it is hard to hate on such a kind-hearted and genuine figure.
