BREAKING NEWS: Southampton sack Ivan Juric and ‘appoints Simon Rusk as new manager’

Southampton suffered their 22nd defeat of the season on Tuesday (25 February) after a dismal performance against Chelsea.

Southampton were thrashed by Enzo Maresca’s men in a 4-0 loss after goals from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella.

The result could have been much worse too had it not been for Aaron Ramsdale, who made six saves throughout the game.

The defeat left Ivan Juric’s men bottom of the Premier League and only increased the pressure on the team as they begin to run out of games to try and survive in the top flight.

Southampton have only picked up nine points this season, and are 13 points adrift of safety.

The Saints have struggled defensively throughout this campaign and boast a -46 goal difference after conceding 65 times.

Southampton on course to be worst Premier League team ever

Southampton only have nine points at the moment, which has supporters worried that they could end up breaking an unwanted Premier League record.

Derby County made history in the 2007/08 season when they recorded only 11 points, which is the lowest total of all time.

The Saints are in a worrying position as fans are concerned about potentially ending up breaking that record, although they do have 11 games left to try and avoid it.

Ivan Juric’s future at St Mary’s Stadium is now uncertain

Southampton might have already made one managerial change throughout this season when Russell Martin was fired, but supporters believe it’s time for another change to take place.

Supporters have called for Juric’s spell at the club to come to an end after their crushing defeat against Chelsea in a bid to try and salvage something out of the season.
