Goalie Anthony Patteron’s job is “possibly under threat,”

according to former Sunderland player Danny Collins,

before of the match against Sheffield Wednesday.

Since midway through the Black Cats’ final League One season,

the Academy of Light alumnus has been Sunderland’s starting goalkeeper.

Only a few league games have been missed by the North Shields-born

goalie since being promoted to the Championship.

“The spotlight is on him, coming off the back of the goals Leeds scored,

balls coming into the six-yard box. Teams are going to have a look at that now,

I’m sure Hull looked at it,” Collins said on Total Sport after Patterson made a

costly mistake against Hull City last weekend when Sunderland lost 1-0

at the Stadium of Light. It’s a flat ball that’s whipped near-post.

He tries to collect it and gather it in, he gets a glove on it,

it goes through his hands and ends up in the net.
