Rangers’ interest in Blackburn Rovers presents a potential roadblock for the club’s new manager.

Rangers is vying for David Wagner’s position as manager of Blackburn Rovers.

The 53-year-old is one of the applicants the Glasgow team is considering in their

hunt for a new head coach, according to reporter Alex Crook.

On Sunday night, Philippe Clement was fired from his position after the squad lost to

St. Mirren 2-0, dropping them 13 points behind league champions and fierce rivals Celtic.

As they search for a long-term replacement for Clement,

former player Barry Ferguson is being considered to take over as manager

in the interim until the end of the 2024–25 season.

According to Alan Nixon, Wagner is one of two applicants being evaluated for

Blackburn’s managing position.

Former Barnsley and West Brom manager Valerien Ismael is reportedly being

considered by Rovers as a successor for John Eustace, who left earlier this month for Derby County.

Wagner, a previous Huddersfield promotion winner, is reportedly being considered by Rangers,

along with Derek McInnes.According to reports, former Rangers manager

Steven Gerrard is not being given any consideration for a return to the team.

Gerrard left Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and is currently unemployed.

Although it is yet unclear who will be hired by Rangers or Blackburn,

the fact that the Gers can now offer European football could prove to be a

roadblock for the Championship team.

Wagner, who left Norwich City last summer following their loss to

Leeds United in the play-off semi-final, is also available at this time.
