Every word Nuno said on ‘big issue’ for Nottingham Forest, penalty decision and Newcastle defeat

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo admitted Nottingham Forest have issues to address after their 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United.

Although they remain in third spot, it was a third straight Premier League loss on the road for the Reds. A spirited second-half showing almost earned them a point but they ran out of time against their fellow Champions League-chasers.

Callum Hudson-Odoi had put Forest ahead with six minutes on the clock but the Magpies were 4-1 up at half-time courtesy of a costly 15-minute spell for the visitors. Goals from Nikola Milenkovic and Ryan Yates reduced the deficit in an improved second half for Nuno’s men but they were unable to complete the comeback. Below is a look at what the Reds head coach had to say after the final whistle at St James’ Park.

On the game overall…

“It was a game of two different halves. First half, we started well with the goal but the momentum shifted and Newcastle were much better than us. They caused us huge problems, scored goals and there was a big gap in the score.

“Second half was different. It was a good reaction from us. We started and finished the second half being the better team but it was not enough.”

On three minutes of added time at the end of the game…

“I would have preferred if we had 10 minutes more because the momentum was there. We created chances and were on top. Who knows, with a bit more time we could have got something from this game.”
