Pompey’s recent run of results has strengthened their chances of securing a
spot in the Championship next season. Following their protracted ban from the
second division last season, survival was always the goal for
John Mousinho and his team, and they currently sit seven points clear of Derby County,
who are currently in the final spot inside the relegation zone.
While maintaining and increasing the gap they currently have over the teams in the
drop zone is the main goal between now and the last day,
Mousinho and his staff will eventually need to start looking at summer recruitment,
though that may depend on whether they are a Championship or League One team.
As the latter weeks and months of their contracts approach, several players in the EFL will also be weighing their options. In light of this, FLW asked Miltos Ioannidis, one of our Pompey fan pundits, who out-of-contract player from the second or third division the Fratton Park team need to pursue.
