Chris Wood, the striker for Nottingham Forest, is praised by Eddie Howe as “outstanding.”
On Sunday, Newcastle United will play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League at
St. James’ Park. Both teams lost their last Premier League match,
with Newcastle losing 4-0 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and
Forest losing 2-1 against Fulham at Craven Cottage. When the two teams played at the
City Ground in November, Newcastle won 3-1, and they will be hoping to repeat that
performance and outcome. Eddie Howe praised Forest striker Chris Wood,
33, who has scored 18 goals and provided two assists in the Premier League,
saying that Wood has been “outstanding” this season.
We felt we needed a focal point in that position.
Someone who could take a lot of pressure off of us as a team and give us a physical presence.
I thought he did all of those things and was outstanding for the team.
Howe probably underestimated how much he affected our style and play.
Then, with Alex [Isak] returning to fitness and Callum [Wilson] arriving,
he ended up moving on. I’m delighted for him.
Forest is currently in third place in the league table,
and Wood has played a massive part in him.
