Watford FC star Moussa Sissoko makes surprise visit to primary school, surprises school children

The Year 6 pupils at Parkside Community Primary School, in Borehamwood, received a special visit from the France international as part of a one-off mental health education session.

The midfielder attended the session after a pupil from the school won a competition as part of Children’s Mental Health Week.

The competition, organised by Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust, challenged primary school pupils to design cartoon characters representing Premier League Primary Stars values.

The session at the school was led by the Trust’s School Sports Project Officer, Nicola Burton.

Pupils were encouraged to become ’emotional referees’, identifying how they felt in different scenarios, and discussing the importance of self-awareness.

Sissoko joined the event to surprise Vinnie, take part in a question and answer session, and pose for a team photo.

Ms Burton said: “We had some fantastic entries in our Children’s Mental Health Week competition, thank you to everyone who got involved and congratulations to Vinnie on his designs.

“It was great to be able to reward Vinnie and his school friends with today’s session.

“You could tell that the children found this both exciting and inspiring, and they really engaged throughout.

“Thanks also to Sissoko who helped add that star quality to our session.”
