Nottingham Forest tried their best to get deals for new players over the line during the January transfer window but were left largely frustrated in their efforts.

The Reds’ owner Evangelos Marinakis desperately wanted a striker. However, targets were identified but came to nothing with the market proving tricky to buy in for a number of clubs.

Yoane Wissa was a big target for Forest. He’s heavily fancied by the powers that be at the City Ground unfortunately for the Reds, Brentford like him too and wouldn’t sanction a sale in January.

Matheus Cunha might be a Forest target in the summer. The versatile forward has now signed a new deal with Wolves but a £62.5 million release clause will become active during the summer window.

One thing that Forest aren’t doing, however, is abandoning plans for the future. The Reds signed Joel Ndala on deadline day and also agreed a deal for Reading star Tyler Bindon before loaning him straight back to the Royals to finish the campaign.

Nottingham Forest want to sign Sindre Walle Egeli

According to On the Minute, the Reds are firmly in the mix to sign Norwegian wonderkid Walle Egli from Nordsjaelland during the summer transfer window.

Forest aren’t the only club interested, however, with Manchester United the latest club to be linked alongside Forest, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham United amongst others.

The 18-year-old has tasted senior football in Denmark after signing for his current club from Sandefiord where he had risen through the academy as a talented youngster.

This season the player has five goals and three assists to his name and typically operates on the right wing, although he is pretty versatile when it comes to where in the final third he plays.

Egeli touted as the next Erling Haaland

The player is available for £21 million it would seem which perhaps seems quite steep for a player who is only a teenager at the moment.

However, when linked with Newcastle last year he was touted as the next Erling Haaland and that is high praise indeed for a player who is still honing his craft as a professional player.

Forest will definitely go in search of more attackers next season. Jota Silva hasn’t really made the grade whilst Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t seem overly convinced about Ramon Sosa at the moment.

Egeli is from a part of the world where a number of wonderkids have been unearthed. Having one of those in place at Forest isn’t to be sniffed at and hopefully, the Reds are in the mix for this signing.
