Derby County offers turned down as John Eustace dealt blow

The Rams have confirmed two more exits from Pride Park in the wake of John Eustace’s arrival as head coach.

First team coach Matt Hamshaw and goalkeeper coach Andy Warrington have departed the club, despite being given the opportunity to work under Eustace.

In a statement, the club said: “First team coach Matt Hamshaw and first team goalkeeper coach Andy Warrington have made the decision to step down from their roles at Derby County, following the recent departures of former head coach Paul Warne and assistant head coach Richie Barker.

“Hamshaw and Warrington were given the opportunity to remain part of the coaching set-up moving forward under new head coach John Eustace, but the club fully respects their decisions.

“The club would like to wish both Matt and Andy every success in the future and place on record its thanks for their efforts following their arrivals in September 2022.”

“I want them to be part of the group until the end of the season at least,” he said on his arrival last week. “I want good people and they are good people. It’s important everyone has one focus which is to make sure we stay in the league and I know them two have. It will be great working with them.”
