£21m Leicester City star must be considering leaving in summer, ‘could play at teams like Arsenal’
Leicester City are in danger of being relegated this season and a top player must now be considering his future.
The Foxes dominated the Championship in 2023/24 but have endured a seriously rough time since returning to the Premier League.
Leicester City fans are growing frustrated and let their feelings be known during the meeting with Arsenal this past weekend.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future at Leicester has been questioned but for now, at least, he looks set to remain in charge.
The Midlands outfit’s performances have improved in recent matches against the likes of Manchester United and the Gunners.
Yet they have still dropped down to 19th and have picked up just three points from their last 10 league outings.
If they do go down, it seems very obvious that one player will be looking to leave the club.
Bilal El Khannouss must be looking to leave Leicester City in summer
The man in question is Bilal El Khannouss, who only arrived at the King Power over the summer from Belgian outfit Genk.
However, Jermaine Beckford has praied El Khannouss for his form since arriving at Leicester and he’s not the only one to do so.
The midfielder has been a real shining light in a team that has largely struggled to compete in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old joined Leicester in a £21m deal, according to BBC Sport, but is already likely worth a lot more.
And while he remains under contract until 2028, it is hard to see El Khannouss sticking around beyond this season, especially if Leicester are relegated.
Bilal El Khannouss backed to play for Arsenal
He’s managed to score three and assist four in all competitions for Leicester and while that’s not a huge return, El Khannouss is obviously a top talent.
Former Genk coach Michel Ribeiro backed El Khannouss to play for Arsenal or a side like them when speaking about his former player recently.
He said: “I’m not afraid to say, Bilal could play at teams like Arsenal without any problems.
“I’m 100 per cent sure that he can do that. For me, the ceiling is very high. The players who leave Genk, 90 per cent of them move to Europe’s top five leagues. That’s for sure. We thought Bilal was ready for the next step.”
It may not be Arsenal, but it does seem likely the 18-time capped international will want to join a big club in the future and that desire will surely grow when/if the Foxes go down.
