European powerhouses are looking to sign a Brighton pair and a Fulham defender for cheap free transfers.
Ajax is already looking into the prospect of recruiting several out-of-contract Premier League players in order to bolster their defensive options this summer.
Ajax are trying to land Tariq Lamptey on a free transfer from Brighton.
The 24-year-old full-back is into the final six months of his Seagulls contract and can therefore speak with foreign clubs. The Dutch giants are pushing hard for his signature during private talks with his representatives and would be prepared to offer Lamptey a long-term deal as they look to entice him to Amsterdam.
Ajax is rumored to have looked into a low-cost deal in January, but Brighton was eager to hold onto the Ghana international until at least the end of the season. The former Chelsea defender has already drawn interest from teams like Sporting CP and Everton and is likely to have plenty of suitors this summer.
Although Brighton has a one-year extension option, the Eredivisie team is also keeping an eye on Joel Veltman, their former star, since his current contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign. It’s unclear at this time if Albion has a comparable option to Lamptey or if Ajax would be open to signing both players simultaneously.
Speaking after last weekend’s 2-1 FA Cup triumph over Chelsea, the fast right-back highlighted his commitment to the Seagulls, stating: “I think the rumours are part of football and I just put my head down and work hard every day in training, looking out for possibilities. I just perform for the squad whenever the manager calls.
