Le Bris is ‘excited, not terrified’ about the Leeds task.
Regis Le Bris feels his Sunderland team will perform at their peak when they travel to Leeds on Monday at 20:00 GMT.
At Elland Road, where Leeds has won 12 of its last 13 games and allowed just three goals,
the Black Cats will face a tougher test after escaping a thrilling 2-2 draw against the table-toppers at home in October.
“They are a very good team,” Le Bris said on Newcastle’s BBC Radio. “Even though it will be a thrilling challenge, there are still only three points at stake.
“Testing our limits is a great challenge for us. We can raise our game against the best opponents, in my opinion.
“I concur that Leeds are most likely the top team we have played this season. When given the opportunity to exploit, they are quite spectacular and pose numerous vertical threats.
“We simply need to concentrate on our game. We are aware of their potential danger and threat, and we can face consequences if we are naïve, but it doesn’t matter if we don’t play our best football.
“Rather than being a cause for fear, it’s a constructive challenge. We’ve performed admirably thus far against the top teams.
“It’s a question of pragmatism because we can’t afford to let them play, but if we don’t damage their defence we’ll have many regrets at the end.”
Le Bris claims that Romaine Mundle “is an option” for Monday.
After scoring four goals in his first 15 games this season and leaving against Coventry on November 9 after helping to assist on both goals, he returned to training last week and has missed Sunderland’s last 17 games.
According to Le Bris, “He’s an option for us,” “We have many players available so the selection will be tough, but he should be available.”
