Carlos Alcaraz is expected to make his Everton debut against Crystal Palace, while Iliman Ndiaye’s availability for the trip to Selhurst Park is uncertain. Alcaraz has made two good second-half

substitute outings against Bournemouth and Liverpool after joining on loan from Flamengo on

the winter transfer deadline day.

With Abdoulaye Doucoure now serving a one-game suspension for receiving a post-match red

card in the Merseyside Derby for his second yellow card of the evening after becoming embroiled

in a spat with Reds substitute Curtis Jones, who was also dismissed in separate incidents, as well

as visiting head coach Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff, Alcaraz appears poised to fill the

void in an attack-minded central midfield position.

Tim Iroegbunam had a fruitful cameo against Liverpool, with his header finding James Tarkowski

for his last-gasp equaliser, so he could be pushing for a central midfield spot at the expense of either Idrissa Gueye or James Garner, but with Doucoure out, he could also be an alternative to Alcaraz in

the side.

David Moyes is also waiting to find out the extent of Ndiaye’s injury, after Everton’s leading scorer

was taken off of the derby after only 24 minutes. The devastated left winger was in tears as Senegal international teammate Idrissa Gueye helped him off the pitch.

After the game, Moyes stated, “We believe he kicked the ground and may have jarred or opened

his knee; we are not sure yet. We’re not sure how serious it is, but we’ll investigate tomorrow.”
