Bloomfield refusing to panic as Hatters boss remains ‘hellbent’ on leading Luton to safety
Town manager Matt Bloomfield is refusing to panic despite Luton’s 2-0 defeat at Sunderland last
night, maintaining he is ‘hellbent’ on preventing the team from relegation to League One this season.

The Hatters extended their winless streak to ten matches in all competitions with their 13th defeat in
14 road games, as they put in a poor performance to award the promotion-chasing Black Cats one of their easiest victories of the season thus far. With a resurgent Plymouth Argyle smashing Millwall 5-1
at Home Park to leapfrog Luton, Town now faces the humiliation of supporting the remaining 24
teams in the division, as their chances of escaping a second consecutive relegation took yet another
turn for the worse.
Although Bloomfield has yet to experience the new manager bounce that all of Luton’s other relegation rivals have, having been beaten in three of his five matches, taking only two points from 15, and entertaining Sheffield United this weekend, as well as having to play Leeds United and Burnley before the season ends, they will require a meteoric upturn in form to avoid finishing below the dotted line.
He remained positive, however, as Town’s manager stated after the game: “There’s still a third of the season left, so there’s no panic for us.” We have to be honest about where we are; we’ve talked about it, but I have to be consistent, and we have to be consistent in our behaviour for the guys to be consistent on the pitch.
