Van Bronckhorst, the former Rangers manager, denies going back to his old team.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has ruled himself out of the running to make an emotional homecoming

to Feyenoord as manager.

The former Rangers coach was one of the major favourites to replace ousted Danish head Brian Priske,

who was fired last week with the Rotterdam club a distant sixth in the Eredivisie table and 12 points behind champions Ajax.

Since Besiktas fired Van Bronckhorst earlier this season, he has not played football.

After two stints as a player at De Kuip, when he led them to three national cups and a Dutch championship,

he is a legend at Feyenoord and would have been a popular option to return.

“Have I been called yet? No. And it is not a possibility anyway.

“Feyenoord need a time of stability. from within the club as well as with the players.

“When things are not going well, there is always a lot of unrest at Feyenoord.”

Van Bronckhorst won five titles as a player at Rangers and lead the Ibrox team to the 2022 Scottish Cup and took

them to the Europa League Final three days earlier when they lost in a penalty shoot-out to Eintracht Frankfurt.

“I treasure all of the wonderful times I have had with Feyenoord, but I do not see myself returning as manager,” he stated.
