The manager of Aston Villa, Unai Emery, expresses his true feelings about Mikel Arteta of Arsenal.
The careers of Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery are somewhat entwined.
Both of these men are Basque-born Spaniards with connections to Real Sociedad, PSG, and, most importantly, Arsenal.
Indeed, Unai Emery was the manager of Arsenal before Mikel Arteta took charge of the club, and given how that whole situation played out, it would be fair for there to be some bad blood between the two gaffers.
Arteta replaced Emery as Arsenal’s manager, and while Emery was quickly sacked 18 months after taking charge at the Emirates, Arteta was given years to try and get Arsenal on track.
Emery was harshly treated by Arsenal and swiftly replaced by Arteta. However, it would appear there are no hard feelings between the pair.
Indeed, speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, Emery has actually named Arteta as one of the managers he most admires in the game.
Andoni Iraola and Roberto De Zerbi were mentioned by Aston Villa manager
Unai Emery when he talked about the managers he looks up to in the game.
He also commended Arteta for his contributions to Arsenal’s growth.
Unai Emery vs. Mikel Arteta Both Arteta and Emery are excellent managers,
and it’s interesting to compare the two now that Arteta has been Emery’s replacement for five years.
Arteta was expected to do well when he was hired by Arsenal,
but he hasn’t quite lived up to that promise; in fact, although Arsenal has been winning a lot of games lately,
Arteta hasn’t been able to produce consistent trophy-laden career.
