Tottenham manager target ready to leave club with Postecoglou sack “closer”

Tottenham Hotspur have compiled a list of possible managerial candidates for Ange Postecoglou,

with the Australian under increasing pressure at N17 after a poor second Premier League season

in charge.

Spurs were knocked out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the space of a few days, losing to

Liverpool at Anfield and failing to beat Aston Villa away.
Postecoglou’s extended absentee list has sparked heated debate, with a slew of key first-team

players missing since mid-November, in what is regarded as one of the greatest injury crises in

previous seasons.

Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero – Spurs’ backbone – have all been

out for extended periods of time, as have a number of other key players. This has clearly

harmed the Lilywhites, but detractors argue that the results must be improved anyway.

Postecoglou now has a massive test at home against Manchester United, as well as another

critical 90 minutes to determine his long-term appropriateness for the Spurs dugout.

“The pressure will only increase, and I believe he will be fired if players return from injury and

there is no fast turnaround in form. Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown stated, “That’s what

they’re expecting and hoping for: players to return and results to improve.”

their poor cup performances, and Brentford manager Thomas Frank is one of the candidates

they’re considering as a replacement if they decide to fire him.

Previous reports have suggested that Frank is one of Spurs’ top managerial targets if

Postecoglou departs, and TEAMtalk confirms this, as does the Dane’s intention to quit his

current club this year.
