“Atletico Madrid’s Star on the Verge of Leaving: Chelsea’s €70M Offer Could Change Everything!”
According to a source, Chelsea is planning a proposal of €70 million (£58.3 million or $72.3 million) to recruit Pablo Barrios from Atletico Madrid this summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder Barrios can play any position in the starting lineup, including No. 6, No. 8, and No. 10.
Barrios attended Real Madrid’s academy for a while before joining rivals Atleti in July 2017 and working his way up to Diego Simeone’s starting lineup.
This season, the Spain international has appeared in 24 games across all competitions, helping Atleti move second in La Liga – ahead of Barcelona – while also reaching the Champions League last-16 and the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
Barrios’ explosive performances have prompted interest from a number of big Premier League teams, including Chelsea.
Chelsea has set its sights on Barrios for the summer and is prepared to “offer” €70 million for him, according to a report from Fichajes.
The team “most interested” in the emerging star is Enzo Maresca’s team, who are trying to acquire a new midfield player who can compete with players like Romeo Lavia, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo.
Barrios has to choose between trying his hand at the Premier League, which is now undoubtedly the best league in the world, or staying in Madrid and leaving his mark at Atleti.
According to the report, Barrios may be persuaded to quit Atleti if Chelsea is able to offer him a significant pay boost.
Barrios may take Chelsea’s spot.
Barrios is probably going to replace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the Chelsea team.
After failing to fit into Maresca’s plans, the Englishman is anticipated to depart Stamford Bridge in the summer, despite not being able to obtain a winter move.
However, if Barrios decides to trade Atleti for Chelsea this summer, he will be looking to have a greater effect than Dewsbury-Hall.
