The Blackburn Rovers manager has been ban and fined £50,000 for making obscene comments against the referee during the match against Wolves.
I’ll say it again: if the FA wants to discipline me, they may do so; they don’t discipline other managers; I don’t mind. However, I want to say it again because I believe my players and our supporters deserve it, and I also support Wolves. To reiterate, referees are hesitant to make rulings for Wolves.
On Sunday, Wolves secured their spot in the FA Cup’s fifth round,
but if one decision had been changed, the game may have gone entirely differently.
Thanks to goals from Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha,
Wolves defeated Blackburn Rovers 2-0 and advanced to the fifth round.
At Ewood Park, Vitor Pereira’s team put up a strong and polished display,
with a number of players taking center stage.
The supporters were impressed by Marshall Munetsi’s debut,
who came off the bench in the second half,
and Andy Thompson applauded Rodrigo Gomes for being “relentless.”
A victory, a clean sheet, and seeing Munetsi play were the ideal combination,
but Wolves’ path was paved with one decision that went their way.
John Eustace is furious over Dominic Hyam’s goal against Wolves being disallowed.
In this FA Cup match, Blackburn dominated the first few minutes.
With his speed and strength down the left,
winger Augustus Kargbo caused issues for John Eustace’s team when they went on the offensive.
Rovers had a great start to the match, scoring through Dominic Hyam within the first 20 minutes.
Josh Buckley’s fantastic whipped free-kick was nodded home by the tall center-back who slipped in at the back post.
When the linesman was seen raising his flag and declaring the goal offside, Blackburn players’ and supporters’ celebrations were abruptly cut short.
However, replays revealed that Hyam’s goal was incorrectly ruled to have been scored from an offside position.
Both Chris Sutton and manager Eustace said Blackburn were “hard done by.”
