‘Still in trouble’ – Bristol City vs Stoke City prediction
Stoke City head to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City in their upcoming Championship clash on Wednesday night.
Stoke City drew 3-3 against Cardiff City in the fourth round of the FA Cup last time out before losing on penalties. SCFC won 2-1 away at Hull City in their last league match.
The Potters turned to Mark Robins as their new manager earlier this winter. They picked the former Coventry City man as their replacement for Narcis Pelach.
They are currently sat in 18th place in the Championship table with 16 fixtures left to play. The Staffordshire outfit are four points above the drop zone.
As for Bristol City, they lost 1-0 at home to Swansea City on Sunday. They will be looking to bounce back from that disappointing defeat.
The Robins ended up having a quiet January transfer window in the end. They didn’t end up signing anyone this winter.
Liam Manning’s side are positioned in 9th place. Only three points separate them from Blackburn Rovers in 6th.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Bristol City were left disappointed by their defeat against Swansea City and will want to return to winning ways.
“They are still in a strong position in the table and need to be more consistent if they are to get into the play-offs.
“As for Stoke City, they picked up an important win against Hull City last time out in the league but are still in trouble.
“SCFC are too close to the drop zone for comfort and will be eyeing more points. This will be a tough game for them at Ashton Gate but I fancy them to get a point.”
Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Stoke City
James Ray
“Bristol City will be eager to bounce back from that defeat to Swansea City but they’ve got a tough game ahead of themselves here.
“Stoke City might not have seen a drastic upturn in results under Mark Robins, but the important thing is that they’ve tightened up and been able to get some points on the board. It feels like the rest of this season is just about laying the foundations for a brighter future under Robins, something the Potters have been longing for.
“Ashton Gate has been a really tough place to go though. The Robins won four straight on their own patch before the Swansea loss and I wouldn’t be surprised if they bounce back here.
“That said though, I just feel SCFC will scrape a point.”
