Statistics clearly show that the £13 million player is Leicester City’s greatest defender, sending a strong message to Ruud van Nistelrooy.
On Friday night, Manchester United mercilessly eliminated Leicester City from the FA Cup, yet some players were able to remain optimistic.
Replays revealed that Ruud van Nistelrooy was in an offside position when Harry Maguire scored the game-winning goal to give United the lead.
Leicester City, who outfought and dominated the hosts for the majority of the match, had a tragic ending to an otherwise great evening.
When Wilfred Ndidi returned to the midfield against Manchester United, he was excellent, and the attacking players, like Bobby De Cordova Reid and Bilal El Khannouss, were outstanding.
Most interestingly, though, Caleb Okoli, who is perhaps Leicester’s finest defender according to the statistics, made Van Nistelrooy’s team appear much more stable at the back.
Throughout the January transfer window, Okoli was connected to a move away from Leicester. After just spending £13 million to join the team in the summer, it appeared that the Italian would eventually go.
The 23-year-old, however, stayed at King Power Stadium and showed during the defeat to United that he is now ready to battle for his spot in the team.
Okoli had his first start under Van Nistelrooy this season due to Jannik Vestergaard’s injury, and he mostly excelled, displaying the speed and athleticism that his teammates lack.
