Harry Kane and Bayern Munich are prohibited from playing in the Champions League in their home uniforms.
Even though there isn’t a clear clash of colors, Harry Kane and Bayern Munich will not be wearing their
iconic red shirt when the Bundesliga powerhouses play Celtic in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Daily Mail reports that UEFA has told Bayern that they are not allowed to wear the shirt in continental
competition because of the lettering on the player jerseys, claiming that the “dark numbers on the jersey”
do not “offer enough contrast for viewers” watching in the stadium or on TV.
Only after placing 12th in the league round of the competition’s new format did Vincent Kompany’s
team qualify for the playoffs, where they would face Celtic, another play-off finisher.
Bayern, who have won their past four games across all competitions, will be feeling confident going into the contest.
In a 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday, Harry Kane scored twice from the penalty spot to put them
eight points ahead of the leaders in the Bundesliga.
In their final league phase match on January 29, the German team, who were compelled to wear their all-white uniform,
defeated Slovan Bratislava 3-1.
