Fulham player rejects transfer offer despite PL side’s willingness to sell – ‘Uncertain’ over renewal
Over the past two months, the Brazilian media have regularly covered Palmeiras’ interest in Fulham’s Andreas Pereira.
On January 14th, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira confirmed their desire to sign the 29-year-old. Later that month, she stated her side are no longer considering a move for him, but that didn’t stop the links.
Earlier this month, Bolavip in Brazil stated Palmeiras want to use the Fulham man’s agent as an important ally to secure his services.
The Brazilian transfer window remains open until February 28th, but Palmeiras have ended their pursuit of Andreas Pereira. That’s relayed again by Globo Esporte, and their title says he has ‘refused Palmeiras’ proposal’.
They had offered €20m to Marco Silva’s side, but the player has decided to continue at Fulham.
Despite the president’s comments, the Brazilian club were planning to make a final push for the midfielder. However, he turned them down and Palmeiras consider ‘negotiations closed’.
Globo further add the Brazil international isn’t thinking about renewing the contract at the London club.
ESPN in Brazil also state Andreas Pereira wants to continue in Europe and therefore the South American club ‘ended the negotiations’.
They claim the Premier League club were willing to sell the former Manchester United man to Palmeiras, but he isn’t keen on joining them. Andreas Pereira feels he can’t return to Europe if he were to move to Brazil at this stage of his career.
The player’s contract lasts until 2026 with an option for another year and the report states it’s ‘still uncertain whether he will renew’ with Fulham.
