Blackburn Rovers can confirm that head coach John Eustace has join Championship club Derby County.
“After a cause in his contract was activated, Blackburn Rovers can confirm that head coach John Eustace has asked for permission to speak with another Championship club,” the club said in a statement.
“John Eustace’s desire to have talks with another club at such a pivotal juncture in the season has been grudgingly approved, much to the club’s dismay.
“The board and ownership believe the club is in a strong position to contend for one of the play-off spots this season because of the substantial investment made during the January transfer window and the six new additions, several of whom showed promise during yesterday’s FA Cup fourth round match against Wolves.
“The club and players are still committed to getting the greatest result this season, especially with the roster strengthened, important players back from injury, and Rovers in a solid position in the Championship.
John Eustace, the manager of Blackburn Rovers, has been “reluctantly granted” permission to talk with Derby County, a team in the Championship. Following Sunday’s 2-0 FA Cup loss to Wolves, Eustace acknowledged that Derby had formally approached him for his services.
