Update on John Eustace as the Blackburn Rovers manager prepares for crucial discussions over the Derby County strategy
Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace will take training as normal
before entering crunch talks over his future after Derby County made an official approach in their bid to make him their new manager.
Derby yesterday triggered Eustace’s compensation clause in his contract,
which is believed to be around £500,000,
and are eager to enter talks with their former midfielder.
Eustace was quizzed over his future in the aftermath of Rovers’ FA Cup defeat to Wolves on Sunday
and said he would speak to the club hierarchy about the “situation”.
The 45-year-old is expected to want to talk to Derby about the job at Pride Park
after Paul Warne was axed by the club on Friday after two-and-a-half-years in charge.
According the Lacanshir Evening Telegraph,
Eustace is due to take Rovers training as normal
but will then meet with Steve Waggott and Suhail Pasha
to express his desire to speak with the Rams about a move to Pride Park.
After a disappointing January transfer window at Blackburn,
with the club currently in the Championship playoff positions,
Eustace has a big decision to make,
but fans fear he is heading for the exit door with family still based in the Midlands.
Yesterday, Eustace was asked if he felt supported at Rovers,
who are owned by the Venky’s.
He said: “I have been very happy here.
It’s something where I now need to speak to the owners to see what they think as well.
(Do you feel supported here?) I do yes.
Fluid logo “I am away from my family a lot,
I am working my socks off, as everyone is,
to make sure Blackburn are very competitive and stay in a healthy position.
When I came here,
we were on the way down.
