‘Embarrassing – Clement must go – fans react to Rangers exit
Philip Clement the Rangers manager, responds to the team’s elimination from
the Scottish Cup by Queen’s Park.
Phillipe Clement maintains that he is not contemplating his future,
and there seems to be no immediate impulse from Rangers’ board to dismiss their manager.
However, the disgraceful home loss to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup
has led Ibrox club supporters to propose that the Belgian cannot endure such “humiliation”.
This marks the first instance of Rangers losing a home cup match
against a team not in Scotland’s top division—an event that stands as one of
their most significant defeats and one of the largest cup shocks.
With Seb Drozd’s goal in the 69th minute for their Glasgow rivals,
along with Celtic’s 13-point lead in the Premiership, Rangers are set
to conclude another season without a domestic trophy.
Clement acknowledged that the players had squandered all the goodwill accrued
from their recent form improvement, which had secured a top-eight spot in
the Europa League and advancement to the knockout stage.
We requested the fans to share their reactions, and they are understandably not
pleased—here is a selection of their responses.
Höhepunkte: Rangers 0-1 Queens Park
Andrew: A defeat I experienced that was among the most humiliating.
Changes must be made immediately.
Anon: Utter humiliation. Since Philippe Clement’s arrival, we have regressed.
He’ll trot out the same tired excuses, and the players will apologize for
disappointing us once more. Since the board failed to support
Steven Gerrard’s continued tenure, it has been a regrettable period.
This simply cannot continue. Our entire history has vanished, and
it’s all the fault of the management, board, and these players.
Robert: This loss ranks among the worst outcomes in Rangers’ history.
It encapsulates our entire season in a single match. The quality of our performances
has been abysmal. Yesterday, complacency took hold. The team believed
they merely had to show up. I can’t fathom how Clement can endure this.
It was dreadful to witness. We control the ball but fail to capitalize on it.
Andrew: Rangers lack a natural leader or a player of true quality who can change
the course of a game. Their playing style is predictable and slow-paced.
While teams do put in more effort against Rangers, this should be viewed
as motivation rather than an excuse.
Billy: At last, it’s Clement’s turn to leave. That game should have been
winnable by any Rangers team. Return Stevie G.
Eric: If our best choice when we’re trailing by a goal is Ridvan Yilmaz,
who plays left-back, then we are in big trouble. When he takes a shot,
he can barely keep the ball in the stand, let alone score goals.
Ross McCausland ought to have been submitting his transfer
request this morning as soon as possible.
Gail: At Ibrox, things are really not as they should be. We have the players
and manager in place, but I sense some shady activities. It seems
we are facing financial difficulties once more, and I fear we may be
heading in the wrong direction.
Kevin: Players who are lazy and arrogant, lacking courage, and believe
that merely showing up guarantees an easy victory. The manager does not meet
the required standard. All the time, supporters are fed up with justifications.
Begin the clear-out with the incompetent manager and his team of fools.
Anon: If the board respects the fans, Clement has to go. The club is regressing.
The Union Bears, who bring disgraceful behaviour to the club, even need to be
banned for a few games for the sake of decent well-behaved fans.
Anon: Without meaning to offend Queen’s Park, Rangers were abysmal.
Philippe Clement arrived at Rangers and restored some belief in the club.
Unfortunately, he and the team have proven inadequate. Unsatisfactory,
lamentably unsatisfactory, performance. Perhaps he ought to think about his contract.
Paul: Clement believed it was acceptable to put in a couple of inexperienced players,
reasoning, “it’s only Queens Park, we’ll win this.” A man who is clearly out of his depth.
Whenever he loses, he always resorts to excuses like
“we had the most shots, possession, corners.” He has never said,
“I take full responsibility” for the defeat, not even once.
He is the one who has to take responsibility.
