Mark Hughes’ Premier League Potters team wanted to improve on their ninth-place result in 2013–14, which was their highest since the 1974–75 season, and the 2014–15 season was one of their most successful in recent memory. Despite a rocky start to the season, Stoke managed to defeat reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in August. They also defeated Tottenham Hotspur on the road and Arsenal at home during the first half of the season.
Senegalese striker Mame Diouf ended his first season at the bet365 Stadium as the team’s top scorer with 12 goals and three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, helping the Potters secure ninth place once more in May 2015 with four more points than the previous campaign.
