Rangers and Celtic urged to make move for out of contract ace as he’s handed Tavernier replacement endorsement
There has been pressure on Rangers and Celtic to make a specific transfer deal.
Across the Premiership, Rangers and Celtic have been asked to look at an ace who is not under contract.
This season, both teams have raided Dundee. Luke McCowan, who has made an impression in his first season in Hoops,
was acquired from Dens Park by the champions on the last day of the summer transfer window.
At the end of the season, Lyall Cameron will leave Tayside for Rangers.
Tony Docherty, the manager, will have to fill the void left by Cameron and won’t let go of any more senior players.
Josh Mulligan, a crucial player who is also unemployed, acknowledged last week that he was
unaware of the contract extension discussion.
“I haven’t really talked to my agent about it; I’ve let him handle it,” he stated.
All I am thinking about is my football and the upcoming game.
Stephen McGinn, a former Dundee midfielder, believes the versatile right-back can prove to be an ideal option for both Rangers and Celtic.
The Light Blues have a mainstay in the position in captain James Tavernier, but he is now approaching his mid-30s, with only Dujon Sterling as natural cover.
Celtic is well-stocked in that position with Scotland regular Anthony Ralston and Canadian international
Alistair Johnston. McGinn still thinks both teams can benefit from a player who can play multiple positions,
and that Tavernier’s twilight means a replacement will soon be required, and Mulligan could be an option.
He said, “I really like Mulligan,” on Go Radio. shifted to the right back position. If I were Rangers or Celtic, I would go sign him. Take a look at the position.
Tavernier’s career is coming to an end. A right back will be what they’re searching for.
