Ben Godfrey, a recent addition, will play in this weekend’s FA Cup match against Bristol Rovers, and an Ipswich Town striker is very close to making a comeback following an injury layoff.
In the lead-up to Sunday’s match at Portman Road (3pm), manager Kieran McKenna said that Godfrey has been training hard. The 26-year-old defender just joined on loan from Serie A team Atalanta.
Despite playing few minutes in the first half of the 2024–2025 season, it indicates the Englishman will probably go on the field against the Gas.
“He’s good,” McKenna added. He has been practicing diligently, so he is prepared. The Atalanta team puts a lot of effort into their training.
He hasn’t played in many games recently, of course, but he has appeared healthy and prepared throughout practice.
He has blended in with the team quite well, and he will play in Sunday’s game. Frontman Hirst may play this weekend after suffering a knee injury during the team’s 2-1 triumph over Tottenham in November, McKenna added.
The Blues manager stated, “George has an opportunity to be involved.”
