John Fleck, a former Rangers and Sheffield United midfielder, was taken to hospital on Thursday night after becoming ill on the pitch.
The 33-year-old was chosen as a Chesterfield substitute for the League Two encounter against Doncaster Rovers on Thursday night, but suffered a medical incident during the pre-match warm-up, leaving his teammates concerned.

Fleck, who has five caps for Scotland, was surrounded by medical personnel at the SMH Group Stadium before being stretchered off around half an hour before the scheduled 7.45pm kick-off, which was delayed by ten minutes.
The Chesterfield statement continued: “We can confirm that John Fleck has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure after being taken ill during the pre-match warm-up.”
Following the match, which Chesterfield won 5-2, assistant manager Danny Webb gave an encouraging report on Fleck’s condition. “He had a fit of some sort,” Webb told the Derbyshire Times. “When we last saw him, he was on a stretcher leaving, conscious, chatting, and smiling. We’ll know more tomorrow. He’s in good hands. Fingers crossed, he appears to be okay.
