Aston Villa vs Tottenham injury news as 6 ruled out and 10 doubts
All the latest injury news as Tottenham prepare to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round.
Tottenham missed out on a Carabao Cup final with defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday night. Ange Postecoglou’s men took a one-goal lead to Merseyside but that lead disappeared in the first half, and Liverpool scored three times in the second half to progress comfortably.
Ange Postecoglou is now hanging on by a thread, although he will surely be given some time on the back of the signings of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel. Next up comes an FA Cup date with Aston Villa, and here we round up all the latest on the injury front concerning both teams.
Pau Torres – Out
Emery has said of Torres: “Pau will need more time to try to be close with us.” The defender won’t be back until March.
Matty Cash – Out
Emery said of Cash last week: “We will train this afternoon, but Matty is not available. He’s going to be, more or less, three to four weeks out.”
Tyrone Mings – Out
Emery has said: “Tyrone has a small injury, not really bad, but I think he will need some more days to be ready to play.” Mings is expected back next week.
Ollie Watkins – Doubt
Emery has said: “I changed him because he was feeling a little bit of pain in his muscle. Hopefully, tomorrow, we will test him and assess him, and it won’t be anything important. I changed him because of it.”
Ross Barkley – Doubt
Emery has said: “Ross still has work to do individually before he can join us. For the next days or maybe a week, and to be ready to play, but not yet.”
Richarlison – Doubt
Richarlison is a fresh doubt after hobbling off against Liverpool.
Radu Dragusin – Out
A fresh blow, Dragusin is out for the season after suffering an ACL tear.
Dominic Solanke – Out
Solanke is out until later in the month, with Postecoglou saying of his knee issue: “Dom, who is probably a week behind them, the rest of them are slated to be back in the next week to 10 days to be available.”
Cristian Romero – Out
Romero is still out with his hamstring issue, and will be on a similar timeline to Solanke. Postecoglou has said: “Romero is a bit of a tricky one. We are not really sure yet. There is still some work he needs to do. It’s just a slower healer, and it is one we are looking at on a week-to-week basis.”
Wilson Odobert – Doubt
Postecoglou said: “They are all kind of around the same time – around 10 days. We are talking about Vicario, (Brennan) Johnson, Destiny (Udogie), Wilson (Odobert), and Timo (Werner).” That was around 10 days ago, so Odobert could be in contention.
James Maddison – Doubt
Maddison has a calf injury but could return here.
Destiny Udogie – Doubt
Udogie has a hamstring issue but could return here.
Gugliemo Vicario – Doubt
Vicario coudl finally return from his ankle injury, but he may not be risked until next weekend.
Timo Werner – Doubt
Wener has a hamstring injury but could return here,
Brennan Johnson – Doubt
Johnson has a calf injury and is another in contention to return.
Micky van de Ven – Doubt
Postecoglou said of the defender’s return: “Micky got through the [Europa League] game with no problem, but he feels he’s not ready yet for the step up to the Premier League. And after losing Radu (Dragusin), I’m not going to risk these guys.”
