Willian has now made it clear why he chose Fulham despite Everton interest

Willian was of interest to Everton in the January transfer window but a deal never came to fruition as the former Chelsea man has now explained why.

The Friedkins wish for two signings at Everton never came true as one that was possibly needed is a new attacker.

This became fairly evident after Everton pushed to sign Willian, but the chances of the Brazillian moving to Merseyside wore thin.

It would’ve certainly been an extravagant signing from Everton, but Fulham have confirmed that the 36-year-old has decided to rejoin Marco Silva’s side.

Many Evertonians would’ve been keen on welcoming Willian to Goodison Park, but the Fulham winger has revealed why he chose a return to Craven Cottage.

Willian has now made it clear why he chose Fulham over Everton

There was excitement around Everton when Willian met with his agent in London as it was certain the former Chelsea man was looking likely to make the move back to England.

After the Brazilian endured time in Greece with Olympiacos after his first spell will Fulham, Willian clearly saw his business wasn’t finished at the club.

Despite Everton’s attempts to sign the winger, it seemed as though Willian only had eyes for the Cottagers.

Speaking to Fulham’s media, Willian said: “I think it’s a great opportunity again to play for this Club.

“I’m completely happy, my family’s happy.

“We are happy to be back, and I think we can do good things until the end of the season, so I can’t wait to start with my teammates and do good things inside the pitch.”

Kevin Thelwell misses another opportunity with Willian at Everton

Kevin Thelwell hasn’t exactly made a great impression on the fans in terms of his future at Everton.

The director of football has an uncertain future with the Toffees as the Friedkin Group aim to replace Thelwell.

He’s not been put in a good light and the decision not to make concrete moves for Willian is strange.

It was supposed that the Friedkins gave David Moyes £40m in January and whether that was true or not, Willian wouldn’t have cost a penny for Everton.

So it gives no excuses to Thelwell, who has failed this transfer window and even though the likelihood is that he’ll leave the club, not signing Willian could cost Everton’s season if form begins to dip.
