A minute of silence will be held in all Euro leagues games this weekend in honor of England Legend’s death.
Following the Greek international’s passing, UEFA announced that Thursday’s England vs. Greece Nations League match would feature a minute’s silence in remembrance of George Baldock.
“UEFA would like to send its condolences to the family of George Baldock,
the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF), and Panathinaikos FC following the Greek international’s sudden and untimely death,”
wrote a statement from the organization that oversees European soccer.
“Following a request by the HFF,
a minute’s silence will be observed ahead of tonight’s UEFA Nations League match between England and Greece at Wembley Stadium,
with both teams wearing black armbands during the game.”
According to police sources,
the 31-year-old British-born Panathinaikos and Greece defender’s body was discovered in a swimming pool at his residence in the Glyfada area in southern Athens on Wednesday.
The cause of death was still a mystery.
