‘Chaotic’ – Derby County new boy reacts to deadline day move to Pride Park
Derby County new boy Harrison Armstrong has said his deadline day loan switch from Everton was ‘chaotic’.
Derby County have landed the teenager on a temporary basis until the end of the season. DCFC managed to get a deal over the line before the 11pm deadline.
Armstrong, 18, has made three appearances in the Premier League for Everton so far in this campaign. He is under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2028.
After joining the Rams, he has told their official club website: “I am made up to be honest. It was quite late notice but I’m really happy to be here. It’s been my first real experience of it [deadline day] – chaotic is probably the right word to use.
“It was yesterday when I first heard about it, I was really excited about the news and wanted to come. This is a change of scenery and a different challenge for me. I’m really excited for the opportunity to get game time and a different experience. There’s a great fan base here, great club. It is just another opportunity to prove myself on a different stage.”
Derby County’s Harrison Armstrong on loan move
Armstrong will give Derby County another option to pick from.
He has been brought in by the Rams to add more quality to their ranks.
The youngster has been on the books at Everton for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks.
Armstrong has been a regular for the Toffees at various different youth levels to date.
The England youth international can play in midfield or on the wing which will make him a useful asset for Paul Warne.
He penned his first professional deal in July last year and made his debut away at Tottenham Hotspur in the league in late August.
What now for Derby County?
Derby County were promoted from League One last term along with Portsmouth and Oxford United.
It has been a tough transition back into the second tier though and they are in a relegation battle.
The Rams have lost their last seven matches on the spin and have been in poor form.
Warne’s men will hope that their recent recruits like Armstrong can help them find their feet again.
They are back in action this weekend with a tough away trip to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City.
