DONE DEALS: Wolves seal two deadline day signings after agreeing fees

Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to complete two deadline day transfers worth a combined £27 million.

Wolves are closing in on two significant deadline day additions, Birmingham World understands.

Red Star Belgrade centre-half Nasser Djiga, a reported target for Nottingham Forest, is currently on a flight to England after Wolves struck a £10 million agreement for his services. The eight-time Burkino Faso international only signed for the Serbian Super Liga club for £2.5 million in the summer but he will now depart swiftly in what will be among Red Star’s most expensive sales of all time.

Vitor Pereira has been eager to add quality and depth at centre-back, boosting the defence further following the £16.6 million acquisition of Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims earlier in the transfer window. Djiga, a 22-year-old standing at 6ft 3in, promises to be a superb addition as he has emerged as one of the best players in the Serbian top flight.

Wolves will be delighted to avoid a repeat of the Kevin Danso saga as they looked set to sign the Austrian international defender from RC Lens but Tottenham Hotspur hijacked the deal. A full agreement was reached for Danso to join on loan and a medical was even booked, but Spurs swooped in to sign him instead.

Breakthrough made by Wolves for £17m target

Another new face expected to be arrive through the doors at Molineux on deadline day is Stade Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi. Reports first emerged this morning that Wolves were in advanced talks to sign the Zimbabwean from the French Ligue 1 club and a breakthrough has been reached.

Birmingham World understands a fee in the region of €20 million (£17m) has been agreed with Reims, similar to what Wolves paid the same club for Agbadou earlier this month. Munetsi, who has played 23 times for the Zimbabwe national team throughout his career, is in his prime at the age of 28.

Munetsi, who has been a staple of Reims’ midfield for the past five seasons, was recently named the man of the match in the 1-1 draw away at Paris Saint-Germain. Two years ago, he was a target for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Lemina nearing Wolves exit

Munetsi signing on the dotted line will allow Mario Lemina to depart the club. Reports in Turkey suggest a full agreement has been reached for Lemina to complete a €3.5 million transfer to Galatasaray on deadline day, putting an end to his nightmare final days at Molineux.

The Old Gold have been keen to move on Lemina throughout January following unprofessionalism and a lack of commitment from the former captain. Lemina refused to play against Newcastle United two weeks ago after requesting a transfer earlier in the month, before apologising to Pereira and his teammates.

The 31-year-old played 77 times for Wolves in all competitions, scoring six goals and making five assists. Lemina has made more appearances for Wanderers than any other team in his career and he had built a superb relationship with the fanbase, but those memories have now been tarnished.

Pereira hasn’t been willing to sanction Lemina’s sale without sourcing a replacement first but Munetsi’s arrival – if finalised – will solve that issue.
