With 24 goals, the Brazilian is Wolves’ second-most prolific striker in Premier League history. Ten of those goals came during a strong start to the season, during which he has occasionally assumed captaincy duties.

Cunha, who arrived to Molineux on Christmas Day of 2023, helped Wolves survive in the Premier League during his first few months there before becoming a vital member of the team and finishing

as its top scorer the previous season.

High points were a hat-trick against Chelsea, one of just two Wolves have in the Premier League,

and the now-iconic second goal in an FA Cup victory against local rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The 25-year-old has stepped up this term, leaving Jorgen behind and finding a new home.

“The new contract is a reward for what Matheus has done and symbolises his importance to us on the pitch,” stated Sporting director Matt Hobbs. Because of what he has given us and will continue to give us, he has earned it.

Matheus truly values the chance the club has given him and adores the team and its supporters.

It’s been a really good experience for both parties since the supporters have taken him under their

wing and he has enjoyed being here.

“He is a true winner and his talent is indisputable.” He wants us to reach our objectives right away,

and it’s a huge boost for everyone when a player of his calibre demonstrates that he’s on your side and ready to battle. He must now do much more of what he has been doing. We need everyone on the pitch, so I anticipate him putting in a lot of work throughout the second half of the season.
