Derby County vs. Sheffield United ‘new’ kick-off time, injury and team news as 9 out and 5 doubts for Championship clash
Sheffield United are in EFL Championship action on Saturday when they travel to Pride Park to face Derby County.
The Blades are in search of a response following last weeks shock 3-0 home defeat to Hull City. None of United’s promotion rivals made the most of the result however with Leeds United and Burnley drawing, whilst Sunderland were held at home by Plymouth Argyle.
As for Derby, they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City last week and are in the relegation zone. They’ve not won a game in 2025 yet having begun the New Year with a 4-2 defeat to inter-city rivals Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day.
When the two sides met earlier on in the season at Bramall Lane, United came out on top winning 1-0 thanks to a second-half strike from Gus Hamer. United’s last win at Pride Park came in September 2010 when Richard Cresswell scored in what was a Championship fixture at the time.
Derby have lost three of their last four league games against United, but all of them came at Bramall Lane. United meanwhile have been on the losing end in their last two league visits to Derby.
The two sides on Saturday are almost polar opposites. The average age of Derby’s team is 28-years and four days, meanwhile United have the third-youngest starting XI at 24-years and 336 days.
Both clubs have made signings this week and they could make their debuts. The hosts re-signed Matt Clarke, signing him on a permanent basis from Middlesbrough. As for United, both Hamza Choudhury and Harry Clarke arrived on loan from Leicester City and Ipswich Town.
The transfer deadline is on Monday and there’s always a possibility that some players could be playing their last game for the club given the unpredictable nature of deadline day. With all that in mind, the Star has rounded up the latest injury news from both sides below.
