Omer Riza, the manager of Cardiff City, has hinted that the pressure Leeds United is under from their own supporters may have an impact on Saturday’s Championship match.
The Bluebirds are now in 18th place when they visit Elland Road, but Riza believes his players will be confident going into West Yorkshire because they have won seven Championship games. Leeds leads the league after 29 games and has gone 11 games without losing. In his remarks prior to Cardiff’s journey to United, manager Riza acknowledged the magnitude of the task at hand and alluded to the kind of strategy he will use. It will be difficult. He praised Leeds, saying, “They are among the league’s best teams, if not the best.”
“Like everything else, we will plan ahead and make sure we do our due diligence both inside and outside of possession, even if we have hurdles ahead of us. We’ll make an effort to arrive there with a strong disciplined mindset. We have players who, in my opinion, have the potential to harm them if they make mistakes. We will be searching for that. They are not prone to making mistakes.
“We know the crowd there as well – if they’re not happy about their players they can get on top of them,” Riza said, implying that pressure from the home sections can influence the game’s progression.
